Michel Chalot is Professor at the Université Marie Louis Pasteur (France). He obtained his Ph-D at the University of Lorraine in 1994 on forest microbiology and plant biochemistry.

He has more than 20 years of research experience in the field of phytomanagement. He proposes a holistic and innovative approach for managing polluted soils and accelerating their ecological restoration, using nature-based solutions (agroforestry systems and bioremediation).

His research project relies on strong links with different socio-economic actors, collaborations with academic laboratories including abroad, and a network of field trials. He has coordinated national (PHYTOPOP, PHYTOCHEM, BIOFILTREE, ECOPOLIS) and EU (NETFIB, EDAPHOS) projects and participate to various other EU projects (BIOSYSMO, SIRAM, PHYBI, IASIS).

He has published over 150 peer-reviewed journals (about 15800 citations, h-index 56, Google scholar). Within the past 20 years, he has been supervising 30 Ph-D and 14 post-doc students.
